COMFORT FILMS FOR WINTER

Just after dinner on a winter night

When the evening stretches long, and we are left to our homes, find warmth and comfort in a few incredible films.

Little Women (2019)

My all-time favorite film and book. This is a period drama that follows four sisters on their coming-of-age journey. Funny, emotional, and incredibly heartwarming.

The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008)

Cuddle up for the long haul for this three-hour adventure based on the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald. With astounding cinematography and a score that will draw you entirely into the plot, this film is an experience. The film challenges the idea that life would be better if you could avoid its pain - but rather, it is the pain and overcoming it that makes life precious. You will laugh out loud and weep into your turtleneck… and love it.

Mystic Pizza (1988)

Julia Roberts in the 1980s is really all I need to say. This film will transport you to an east coast pizza shop where three girls are working their way through summer after high school, each with plans to branch out from their small time and chase their dreams.

Sleepless in Seattle (1993)

A charming rom-com that, at its core, is a reflection on fate. Maybe my connection to this film is simply that I relate to Annie, played by Meg Ryan, when her best friend Becky, played by Rosie O’Donnell, says to her, “A movie! That's your problem. You don't want to be in love; you want to be in love in a movie." Also, Tom Hanks and I have the same birthday, and he is my celebrity crush.

About Time (2013)

If you watch any single film on this list, please let it be this one. Put your phone in another room, turn off all the lights, and for the love of God, visit the ladies’ room before you press play.

Cheers to a cozy movie night!
