OWNER’S SUITE FLIP
place
The owner’s suite, of course.
time
early evening, after work
A peaceful and relaxing bedroom design, where rich contrast and tonal materials bring both traditional and modern taste together.
Our bedroom has been on our To Flip list since we moved in August of 2019, but we felt a tad indulgent ripping out all the new finishes just because they weren’t our favorite (a first-world problem if I’ve ever seen one). In the build process, we were pretty limited in selections, so we went with neutrals that we could live with until we were in a place to really customize the space for ourselves.
design intent
Balancing my love for traditional, warm design with Josh’s soft spot for cool, modern vibes, we decided to bring in contrast with a dark accent wall and then layer in warm tones and textiles.
We kept our existing furniture (bed, side tables, dresser, mirror) and opted for new bedding, lighting, rug, and decorative accents
Josh pulled up the carpet in the bedroom and closet and replaced it with a Luxury Vinyl Plank that is a near-match to the LVP we have on the first floor. (We didn’t want to pay $5.50/sq. ft. for that product, so we went with this option from Lowe’s from $2.19/sq. ft.)
